Come Fly With Me – A Pet Tale
They call me Diolinda, the ‘Draggin’ Butterfly’ because lately I’ve been flying around draggin’ my buddy Clara the floating cat behind me everywhere I go. Talk about a free ride!
Seriously though, this is my training to build strength for when I fly south for the winter. It will be a long flight, and I will need to be in top shape.
While I’m no expert in aeronautics, I can tell you it isn’t easy for a tiny wisp of a butterfly like me to fly while draggin’ a floating nine-pound cat. I do almost all of the work, while Clara gets to relax and enjoy the scenery. At first I wasn’t at all for doing this, but Clara kept watching me flutter around and begged me to take her along. She became so obsessed with the idea that I finally gave in. Now she can’t get enough! All she needs to do is take a very, very deep breath, and before you know it, she’s floating in the air and ready for another adventure. Of course she can’t propel herself forward, so that’s where I come in, trailing an invisible tether for her to latch on to.
Clara has asked me if I can take her with me when I eventually fly south, but I’m no jumbo jet so she’s going to have to wait until I come back next spring to continue our flying explorations. We’re going to miss each other!
