January: The Coziest Month – A Pet Tale

We always find January to be the coziest month of them all, and we eagerly look forward to this special time. Sure some countries have palm trees, beaches and year-round tanning, but to enjoy January in Canada is like no other winter experience.

Who doesn’t love being toasty warm at home, sitting beside a fire blazing inside a big stone fireplace? This as we become mesmerized by large white snowflakes as they fall silently to the ground. We’re happy to bask in the balminess and glow, as we stay tranquil and relaxed. We reflect on the hustle and bustle of last month’s holidays: the treats and the fun, festive times with family, friends and their friendly pets.

Our humans usually dress us up in crazy holiday costumes. We get a real kick out of that and sometimes we put them on again just for laughs. Every guest who sees us squeals with delight and laughs at the silliness of it all. Apparently, there are still some leftover holiday treats? Yummm!

As great as it is to spend time inside, our absolute favourite part is when we get to run outside and leave our ‘marks’ in the freshly fallen cold snow! Sometimes, if the snow is deep enough, we can even disappear underneath it as we tunnel our way right across the yard to play tag with Mr. Squirrel.

And when all the fresh snow seems hopelessly stuck to our fur, and we’re starting to shiver, we paw at the back door and we’re suddenly back in our cozy paradise. Yep, there’s a good reason why bears like to hibernate! 🐾
